Over the past two years, GLMV’s Hospitality Division has completed several projects for Lazy Dog restaurants across the country. As one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains, Lazy Dog stands out from competitors with their self-proclaimed “small-town ambiance and comfort food” menu, inspired by the owner’s experiences visiting his parents in nature-rich Wyoming. On top of the welcoming atmosphere, the chain is acquiring a large fan base thanks to dogs being allowed to join owners in a meal on the dining patios. The furry-friends can even order from their own menu.
In 2018, TESSERE was engaged to finalize sets of drawings for new restaurants that were constructed in Cypress Crossing, a suburb of Houston, TX, and two projects in Virginia. The two projects in Virginia consisted of a new build in Chantilly, VA and an in-line at Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, VA. Each 11,000-square-foot restaurant has a different floorplan. The Western-themed restaurant chain uses exposed wood timbers above the bar and dining areas, tapered columns and tapered entrance towers, and their own branded fireplace design in the private dining room keeping with an elaborate interior design concept.
The Chantilly, VA Lazy Dog was completed and opened it’s doors to the public in February 2020. GLMV’s team worked to accommodate owner-requested revisions to the existing drawings and ensured all designs complied with state and local building codes.
GLMV’s Dan Wilson, project manager, credits productive, intense collaboration between the owner, stakeholders, subcontractors, and design team, starting with an all-inclusive kick-off meeting as the reason why these projects have been so successful.
The TESSERE team provided Project Management, Construction Administration, Architecture and Landscape Architecture services to bring these projects to life. The team is currently working on additional Lazy Dog locations with one currently under construction in Boca Raton, FL and other locations to begin drawing production within the next year.
